When it comes to foot SOUL and all about “Thunk”

… Something to consider before it’s time to pack the winter gear and shove into something more light and comfortable.

For weeks I’ve been walking on my leather slippers: see pic, the shoe on the right. I love them, they are just the perfect thing to walk on except… when you go shopping in Thailand.

See, here when you enter a shop… you take your shoes off. I love it!20150325_162758~2

I think its great, leaving the dirt out, inside it stays nice and clean. And you are more considerate about entering. We (and our guests) actually do this at home (Holland) too!

So going shopping with the leather-laced-up-5-times-round-my-ankle-shoes, well it’s just a lot of work. So ‘Lazy me’ decided to use my red flip-flops, which had been in the red suitcase unused for months, instead. You know…so I could flip/flop them off at every entrance.

It did not last long.

Being a Paleo movement junky I love exploring movement. It’s about the difference in how we move and how we are designed to move.

This is what I found out:
My leather slippers have a layer of leather sewed on a Vibram thin rubber sole. It’s minimal protection and maximum movement of the whole foot while walking close to barefoot, ànd hardly any cushioning while walking.

Walking my red slippers felt like I had two spacecrafts tied under my feet, a lot of cushioning and a lot less feeling of what was going on beneath my foot SOUL.

Why is this so important? Just try!

Go barefoot and jump up and down for a second. Feel that ‘Thunk” going through your body from the heel up? That “Thunk” resonates through all your bones stacked on top of your heels. There is a squeeze in every joint from the “Thunk” to the release of the “Thunk”.

In this squeezing and releasing your bones “suck” minerals, calcium etc. and20150325_162951~01~01~2 whatever more they need from the tissues around your bones. These minerals are just what you need to make them more dense.

So for increasing your bone density, (instead of loosing bone-density like osteoporosis) minimal footwear is a great start!

No cushioning to improve the “Thunk” with every step. Free yourself of heels to make sure you stack your bones properly –IN- alignment.

Want to try? Walk half a day barefoot (socks are fine too) and feel the “Thunk” with every step. Now put on your AIR-max or whatever sport shoe you have and feel..

(Oh this was my view taking this picture upside down…I jut love my outside office…for this moment!)
